Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Civil Wars performed their new song “Kingdom Come,” from the soundtrack to the smash-hit movie, The Hunger Games.
Joy Williams told Entertainment Weekly that “It’s our homage to a survival song.” Her partner in music, John Paul Williams, added, “And also to trying to keep your cool and stay rational in a ridiculous situation. It’s a little bit of ‘It’s goign to be okay, it’s going to be all right, we’re going to make it through this,’ even when the situation around you is more dire than you’d care to admit. I think it’s how we all cope.”
He also told the magazine that they wrote the single “on the road in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We were out there for a show, in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I think the landscape helped us capture the mood. We were unfettered, out in the middle of God’s country.”
So what do you all think of this track?
Here’s an incredible new video for the haunting new single from Glen Hansard(The Swell Season, The Frames). “Philander,” from his upcoming debut solo album, Rhythm and Repose, takes you through the process of a relationship gone wrong. The single-room, no nonsense video really fits message and process of the single. What do you think?

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards brought a plethora of amazing(and terrifying) performances. For me though, the performance that left the most lasting positive impression was the encore of the night for Sir Paul McCartney and many friends, including The Boss Bruce Springsteen, Joe Walsh, and the original Fighter of Foo Dave Grohl. They delivered an epic performance of the last three tracks(minus the final hidden track) of The Beatles musical masterpiece Abbey Road. It was amazing to see Sir Paul conduct an epic guitar solo-off between the masters of rock that were gathered together to end the Grammy night. What’d you think of this performance?
The Grammys!

Here’s a phenomenal new video from OK GO for “Needing/Getting.” You’ll see snippets of this during the Superbowl as part of Chevy’s ad campaign, but here’s the whole video! Enjoy! What do you think?
Here’s an impressive cover of Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” by the Canadian indie rockers Walk Off The Earth. This version gained notoriety due to the fact that five people play one guitar in the video. Pretty sweet! Also catch them this week on Ellen. What do you think?
This past week Joseph Arthur and his band rocked “Travel As Equals” on The Late Show with David Letterman. This was the first time I’d ever heard him and was really impressed, as was Dave. If you enjoy what you hear, Arthur is offering his new album, Redemption City, for free right now on his website! Go get it!
Few times have I seen someone take over Twitter feeds/trending topics quite like Phillip Phillips… well other than celebrities. Last night on American Idol, Phillip Phillips rocked America(and the judges) with his renditions of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstitious” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” It was the latter cover that had Twitter and other social network sites buzzing. Check out the footage from last night’s show to judge for yourself. Also be sure to check out our prior post for the “Thriller” rendition from his Youtube channel. What do you think?
